Access Design Solutions offers inclusive services that consider the requirements of the wide range of disabled people, and wider communities. Alongside this, we have acquired a strong reputation for our vision impairment expertise.
We have worked with major Vision Impairment organisations – leading the access services of RNIB, Guide Dogs, Vision Australia and The Joint Committee on the Mobility of Blind and Partially Sighted People; and have developed a sound understanding and appreciation of the access, mobility and information requirements of blind and partially sighted people.
Does the Braille say the same as the text?
When assessing accessibility within a building, it is essential to check Braille signs say what is intended and convey the correct information.
Similarly, when specifying Braille signage, it is essential to check this is provided correctly.
Is the Braille positioned upside down?
Examples of incorrect Braille we have found include: Lift controls with the Braille for 'up'/'down' the wrong way round; Braille positioned upside down; and a sign where the Braille read "Braille to go here"!
Our Braille Signage Audit Tool will assist! This tool enables you to specify and check Braille on signs, and understand practical Braille considerations. Order your copy now for only £8 plus postage. Why not order a copy for each member of your team? Only £20 for 3 copies, or 5 for £30 plus postage, with further discounts on larger orders. To order, please contact us
